Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities
Conducts ground and flight training of assigned students in specifically authorized training courses and in accordance with policy and standard practices.
Evaluates student performance and provides professional, constructive and accurate feedback of student performance and overall progress.
Regularly reports student training progress to the assigned Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor.
Maintains complete, accurate and timely student training and required personal records in compliance with FAR Parts and .
Maintains proficiency and currency in assigned instructor and pilot responsibilities. Attends regular safety meetings and recurrent standardization meetings.
Maintains professionalism and safety in all interactions and responsibilities. Knows, follows, and promotes aviation regulations and Science policy, procedures and safety practices. Maintains a personal program of continuing education.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, including FAR Part 141.
Knowledge of standard pilot training practices and all applicable information resources.
Knowledge required to demonstrate competence in the privileges of the pilot and instructor certificates held.
Skills
Must regularly demonstrate competence in all operational duties including piloting, flight instruction, ground instruction and student evaluation.Effective teaching skills.
Interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.Abilities
Pass initial and recurrent tests related to flight instructor duties and standardization requirements.
Able to maintain proficiency and currency on required pilot and instructor privileges.
Able to communicate professionally and effectively.
Able to work with and address student conflicts or concerns.
Able to work professionally and collaboratively with others.
Able to receive feedback and accept correction.
Able to use standard word processing and general computer applications.
