ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
1. Develops and implements Flight Operations policies and procedures throughout the Flight Ops manual system.
2. Provides supervision and direction for Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) development, approval, implementation and maintenance.
Coordinates with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Principal Operations Inspector (POI) and AFS-230 on AQP training issues
3. Monitor daily flying schedules to ensure efficient and safe operations.
4. Designates, trains, and supervises Flight/Simulator Instructors and Check Airmen.
5. Develops annual and monthly training plans to accomplish all requirements within the regulatory time frame.
6. Serves as the representative for the Vice President of Flight Operations (Director of Operations) in his/her absence.
7. Monitors changes in technical and performance documents to coordinate any required material changes with applicable management and departments
8. Ensures completion of Flight Operations quality assurance programs and develops any required remediation
9. Provides analysis of Flight Crew training requirements for alternative aircraft or routes

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent preferred;
• Must hold an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate with the appropriate ratings for at least one of the airplanes used in the certificate holder’s operations and:– In the case of a person becoming a Chief Pilot for the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of a large airplane operated under part 121 or part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)
– In the case of a person with previous experience as a Chief Pilot, have at least 3 years experience, as pilot in command of large airplane operated under part 121 or part 135 of the FAR’s
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural and technical manuals in a clear and concise manner.
• Effectively presents information and responds to questions from Flight Operations employees, management, customers, federal and state agencies.
• Ability to bring together groups of employees to refine policies, procedures and training solutions.
• Ability to solve practical job related issues and deal with a variety of factors in making decisions.
• Can effectively communicate and advocate positions that improve safety and further develop business opportunities.
• Ability to interpret and utilize data and information resources in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
